Jane’s 3 Daily Rituals for a Happier & Healthier Life

Let's face it, time is one of our most fleeting resources, so discovering simple yet effective ways to enhance our health and happiness is truly priceless. Jane has a few simple and effective daily rituals that offer a natural approach to achieving a healthier and happier life. Let’s explore these three practices and how they can transform your overall wellness.

Ritual 1: Circadian Rhythm | Light Viewing

Developing a morning routine that aligns with your circadian rhythm sets the tone for the day to come.

Create white space in the mornings by avoid reaching for your cell phone or computer for at least an hour after waking up. Instead, start your morning by doing some light viewing. According to Dr. Andrew Huberman, light viewing has a powerful and positive impact on our bodies. Here’s how you can incorporate it into your routine:

  1. Within 5-15 minutes of waking, go outside and expose your eyes to sunlight for about 5 minutes. If it’s a cloudy day, increase this to 10 minutes, and for dark, rainy days, aim for 20 minutes.
  2. Viewing sunlight through windows won’t work, so make sure to go outside. Avoid wearing sunglasses, but eyeglasses and contacts are fine.
  3. If you wake before sunrise, use artificial lights to make your room as bright as possible. Once the sun is up, spend a few minutes outside for light viewing.

This practice helps activate your circadian rhythm, improving your sleep and overall well-being.

Ritual 2: Lymphatic & Chi Movements

Wake up your body and encourage your lymph to move. Unlike other body systems, the lymph does not have a natural pumping mechanism. It relies on alternative methods to be moved around your body. The lymphatic system is the sewerage system of the body, but it is also a part of your immune system. When you are sick, it is especially important to get the lymph moving as it carries antigens into the cells to create antibodies. This simple 5-minute routine will kick start your lymphatic system and help you to remove waste and toxins from your body.

Steps to Activate Your Lymphatic System:

  1. Lymph Tapping: Gently tap areas of your body where lymph nodes are located, such as your neck, underarms, and groin.
  2. Skipping: Follow the lymph tapping with some shaking or skipping for a minute or so to further stimulate lymph movement.

Ritual 3: Dry Body Brushing

Dry body brushing is a simple yet powerful technique that involves using a natural bristle brush to gently brush the skin. A daily dry body brushing routine has more benefits than you might think! From boosting circulation to firming the skin, we know you’ll be amazed by the long-term benefits of this tried and true practice. Let’s explore the additional benefits you could notice when you begin your body brushing journey.

Benefits of Dry Body Brushing

  • Boosts Circulation: By stimulating blood flow to the skin's surface, dry body brushing promotes increased circulation, resulting in a natural glow and improved skin tone.
  • Aids with Lymphatic Drainage: The gentle pressure applied during dry body brushing helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, aiding in our own body's natural detoxification process.
  • Promotes Cell Renewal: Regular dry body brushing helps to slough off dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover and revealing smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
  • Helps Achieve Tighter, Smoother Skin: Dry body brushing can help reduce the appearance of cellulite and promote firmer, more toned skin.
  • Offers a Moment of Self-Care: Beyond its physical benefits, dry body brushing provides a moment of self-care, allowing you to enjoy a simple yet luxurious ritual.

How to Dry Body Brush:

  1. Make sure your skin is completely dry.
  2. Start at your feet, moving up the legs on both sides using firm, but gentle brush strokes.
  3. Continue working from your arms toward your chest, and then your back.
  4. On your stomach, brush in a clockwise circular motion.
  5. Follow with a warm shower and your favorite moisturizer to lock in all of your hard work.

Pro-Tip: Always make three long strokes toward your heart, avoiding any back-and-forth or scrubbing motions.

If you commit to Incorporating these three daily rituals into your daily routine, you will begin to see improvements in your health and happiness almost instantly. These self-care practices are designed to be quick, simple, and effective. Give one or all three of these practices a try, and let us know how you like them!
